Friday, 3rd October 2003 H_Foundation split
The rumours are true. Sadly, Halo & Hipp-E will no longer be recording or touring together as H_Foundation. The recording duo, whose released great
tracks such as 'Passage Of Time', 'New Funk Theory', 'Tonight' and recent longplayer 'Environments', have decided to call it a day. The name H_Foundation may be kept alive in some shape or form in the future. A formal press release will be issued in due course.

The next H_Foundation single will be released shortly on Soma, a highly limited blood red vinyl 10", 'Slayin' The Dragon (27.10.03).

MASTER H 'THIRTEEN'

Release Date : 8th September

Straight out of finest clubs in Paris, Master H is ready to unleash his unique Parisian sound to the UK. A blend of fresh and funky house of the highest quality, “Thirteen”, is H’s deft debut album through Soma Records, set to hit our shores 8th September.

Master H is part of the next generation of groovemasters from a country that takes its house music very seriously indeed. The album kicks off with a sombre excerpt from ‘La Femme Du Boulanger’ (The Butchers Wife), a classic film from the South of France. Next the bold and brassy ‘Mayflower’ heats things up, featuring the man himself on vocals. The party vibe continues with ‘F Word’ and, of course, the exceptional ‘Magic K’ - recently released on the ‘Soma 10 Anthology’ collection. Next up is the title track ‘Thirteen’, co-produced with Soma brothers and sonic voodoo bandits of house Silicone Soul. The link continues with ‘Don’t Stop’ featuring the vocal talent of Louise Marshall of ‘Right On!’ national chart fame. Not far behind Is the Latin frenzied ‘Us’, from there the funk quotient goes interstellar with ‘From Here To Space’. Another collaboration sees H team up with Glasgow housemaster DJ Q - the aptly titled ‘HQ’ is a tougher, trackier style than the rest.

‘Ramadam Break’ is a stunning track that fuses fiery electro rhythms and congas into a unique listening experience. The striking melodies lead us perfectly into the final track, ‘C’est La Vie’, a disco trip that will get the Ibiza faithful dipping into delirium this summer. The album comes to a stunning end with the finale from ‘La Femme Du Boulanger’.

But the last word must go to Hassen: “The album is not the definition of funk – it’s a creation from influences and what I feel inside. It’s intended to make people happy.”

We think you’ll agree.

‘C’EST LA VIE’

B1. Supermen lovers Mix
B2. Onionz True To The D Dub

Release date : 25th August

Straight outta the classiest clubs in Paris, Master H returns to the UK with the ultra funky “C’est La Vie” and his eagerly anticipated debut album “Thirteen” this August through Soma Recordings.

The legacy of Daft Punk has led Soma into a concrete relationship with France and its artists, Hassen Gouaned, aka Master H, is part of the next generation of groove masters from a country that takes its house music extremely seriously.

It’s been a struggle to get this far, but one that’s paid off. As a teen Master H would hide under mixing desks in Parisian clubs learning his art – and dodging the owners who would kick him out for being too young. However, it wasn’t long before he could be found standing proud behind a pair of 1210’s, commanding the crowd to shake their hips to his unique Parisian sound at clubs and bars in St Tropez. Two years later at a Miami Music Conference party, his sound attracts the attention of Soma and the rest, as they say, is history.

Master H has honed a rare talent for producing the finest, funkiest house around and “C’est La Vie” is no exception. Combining a subtle blend of disco beats and sunshine, this track is sure to have the Ibiza worshippers shaking their booty all summer – and that’s just what Master H intended, after all, “C’est La Vie”!

Soma 133R
A. Fred Everything's Movin Vox Mix
B1. H_Foundation's Extended Mix
B2. H_Foundation's Smoothed Out Mix

Release date : 11th August

San Diego’s finest producer/DJ duo H-Foundation (HIpp-E and Halo) deliver ‘Tonight’, the standout vocal track from their recent, and brilliantly received longplayer ‘Environments’ .

The sophisticated ‘Tonight’, is the most emotive track from the album, hallmarked by its lush strings, bassline and the strong female vocals of Krista from San Diego based electronica outfit äion. This has ‘house anthem’ stamped all over it. King Britt’s Sexy Mix is one of his finest mid pacers of recent times. Bulking up the layers of the original with amazing effect. DJ Dozia’s Hit Mix ups the BPM’s a touch and drives along on it’s analogue synth lines. Retaining the full vocals it’s already causing a stir in clubland. Fred Everything’s Movin’ Vox Mix strips down and twists the vocal for techier floors. H_Foundation’s own Extended Mix takes the original and bends it perfectly for quality floors. The Smoothed Out Mix rides along on the hats and goes very, very deep. All in all, a top notch package.

FACULTY X
‘AIRPORTS & HOSPITALS’

out 19.5.03

Bryan Zentz makes his Soma debut with his Faculty X project. Fresh from success of his ‘Seven Breaths’ album on In-tec, Bryan is one of techno’s most respected producers. The Soma connection was formed when SLAM recently remixed his ‘D Clash’ track.

Faculty X was concieved as a project to explore the deeper side of things. Influenced by topics regarding the spiritual and supernatural, the project name was taken from a term coined by paranormal expert Colin Wilson. The first Faculty X 12' "Citizen" was released on Zozan Music and found its way onto mix CDs by Justin Robertson and Lawrence Burden. A remix ep followed with mixes by Richard Brown of Swag, Jori Holkunnen and DJ C1. "Airports & Hospitals" is the third installment.
Airports & Hospitals: Two locations where people cross paths and converge usually out of necessity for a common purpose. Unlike many other "preferential" locations such as shopping or eating venues, these hubs are not as restricted by demographic and economic factors. It is said by some that we come into contact with each other for a reason no matter how briefly.

A1: The Perils of Second Sight
For one to possess the power to see into the beyond is a great
responsibilty. What if its something one cannot just "turn off" at will. What if you didnt like what you saw? Should and can one try and change these things...

B1: Invidia
The friendly but haunting voice of a dead girl speaks through frequencies, not unlike the "Electro Magnetic Voice Phenomenon" found by ghost researchers in haunted hot-spots. This track originated as part of a live PA that was performed at the Glasgow Arches for the night "Pressure". Appropriately it found its home at Soma Records!

B2: Dead Circuit
A lazy dubbed out number asking: "Are our bodies merely devices for energy to pass through? Where does this energy go after its left the circuit"?
