The 2004 edition of the annual Soma Compilation extravaganza is upon us. Can you believe it’s been twelve months since the last one? Well it is, and it’s been a mighty fine one for the label…

This bumper CD edition features tracks from Soma favourites Slam, Funk D’Void, and Envoy, all of who have released albums this year, namely ‘Year Zero’, ‘Volume Freak’ and ‘Shoulder 2 Shoulder’. Other Soma stars appearing are Master H and Percy X. The future is looking bright for the label and this is reflected by new signing’s Vector Lovers, Hystereo and Alex Smoke, extremely talented producers who are making fresh and exciting electronic music.

Fresh from making a big splash with his debut album, Vector Lovers has upped the anti with live favourite ‘Suicide Android’, commanding “destroy me”, which inevitably leads to a case of short circuit blowout, over a building & pumping track, with big dirty synth riffs & spaced atmospherics. In stark contrast ‘Melodies & Memory’ is a reminiscent robot’s love song, wrapped in soft neon. On the flip there’s a soaring but sublime Claro Intelecto remix of ‘Futures In Plastic’.
