Monday, 18th November 2002 SLAM feat Dot Allison 'Visions'
Soma 124 A. VITALIC REMIX AA. TWO LONE SWORDSMEN REMIX Soma 124R A. EWAN PEARSON EXTENDED MIX AA1. PHIL KIERAN REMIX AA2. HYSTEREO REMIX Release date : 11.11.2002 Slam unleash the final track to be taken from last years ‘Alien Radio’ album. ‘Visions’ featuring Dot Allison was certainly one of the standout tracks and for the single release Vitalic, Two Lone Swordsmen, Ewan Pearson, Phil Kieran and Hystereo have delivered eye opening remixes to make for a blinding package over two twelve inches. Dot Allison has recently released her thoroughly excellent ‘We Are Science’ album on Mantra. On the album Two Lone Swordsmen’s Keith Tenniswood contributed his production talents and Slam have also completed a fantastic dancefloor remix of the title track ‘We’re Only Science’. The first twelve contains remixes from Vitalic and Two Lone Swordsmen. When deciding remixers for ‘Visions’ Slam were hammering Vitalic’s ‘Poney EP’ at the time in their sets and decided that his sound would be ideal for this special record – they certainly were not disappointed with the result! The Gigolo maestro and fur salesman, delivers a crushing aural assault of a remix. If you liked ‘La Rock’ you’ll love this! The Two Lone Swordsmen have produced a fat slab of machine funk that uses Dot Allison’s dulcet tones. This mix is definitely something extraordinary, dirty electronics merge beautifully with Dot’s ethereal vocals to create a sleazy monster with a breakdown and bass end so spannered it just might shatter the Rotter’s Golf Club’s windows. This mix was recently previewed on Slam’s ‘Alien Radio Remixed’ Cd. One the remix twelve first up is Soma star Ewan Pearson, currently very hot property with remixes of Freeform Five ‘Perspex Sex’, Black Strobe ‘Me ‘n’ Madonna’ and Playgroup ‘Behind The Wheel. His remix of ‘Visions’ is a spellbinding vocal masterpiece, which reinforces the fact that he is one of the best producers in the UK right now. On the flip Phil Kieran has produced a hypnotic house remix that will take the track onto peak time floors. Finally new Soma signings Hystereo make their debut on the label with an ultra deep rework that cleverly chops up Dot’s vocals to maximum effect.
