Octogen

Octogen is a pseudonym for Glasgow producer Marco Bernardi, newly signed to
Soma Records. Marco is a fantastic homegrown talent and the ‘Ligrgirl EP’ is
his debut single on the label.

Marco Bernardi is widely recognised as one of the most forward thinking
electronic producers around at the moment, his releases on Clone, Frustrated
Funk and Emoticon have displayed his depth and mastery of his machines. From
delicate electronica to razor-sharp electro via pure Detroit techno, Marco’s
productions are superbly crafted and have a radiance that sets them above
the normal.

Octogen is his new solo project and he has delivered a stunning four tracker
of timeless electronic masterpieces. ‘Save Your Saviour’ is a shimmering
slice of emotive techno-soul. Title track ‘Ligrgirl’ is a future classic
with its melancholic melody and intricate electro rhythms. On the flip ‘Mid
Bel Figlio’ is a glitchy house number that is riddled with stutters and
whirrs all over an oddly infectious groove. The more experimental AFX like
‘Numbers & Notes’ concludes this impressive collection.

Octogen is an exciting new addition to the Soma roster and his album will be
forthcoming in January 2006. Marco has also recently collaborated with
Percy X as the The Separatists, their debut album ‘Akilak’ was released this
summer.
